Greetings! And welcome to, a photo chronicle of my time in Egypt in 1978.  I was able to join an expedition sponsored by the National Science Foundation, and organized by Dr. Fekri Hassan of Washington State University at Pullman, who was the principal investigator. The work at the site was managed by Dr. James Gallagher of the University of Wisconsin at LaCrosse.  I was the staff photographer.

These photos are a personal record of what I saw there, and of the people with whom I worked.  There are also photos chronicling travel to and from Egypt.  The black and white photos I made are not included because they are the possessions of the expedition, and are used to document findings and hypotheses relative to the cultural thrust of the investigation.

These photos are not protected: you may use them.  I ask only that you email me at willie.lorsung[at]gmail[dot]com and tell me how and where you are using them, and that you credit me.

Finally, I apologize for any misspellings or mislabellings.  It’s been a while, and my notes are sketchy at times.  I will attempt to correct them in the future. If you are familiar with the things, people, or places in these photos, I would be happy to hear from you.

And I hope you enjoy them as I have in putting them on the site.
